Regional economic analysis of the science system in the city of Dortmund (North-Rhine Westphalia) in which the econmic effects of scientific institutions are examined on city- and regional level. The quantitative value added, income and employment effects are measured as well as the effects of scientific organisations to human capital, establishment of companies and transfer of knowledge and technology.

"Support of four projekts concerning motivation to the formation of a company with communication between the projects, incorporation of stimulation of third parties, support of public relations and discovering opportunities for transfer. Potential of the creative economy of Trier

This study analyses the potential for economic development of the city of Trier creative branches as well as their relation to the characteristics of Trier as a touristic, cultural and shopping city. Together with the local actors the study proposes ideas for the strengthening of the creative economy.

Economic impacts of universities and public research institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate

This research project focus on the regional economic effects of universities and other research institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate. The importance of those institutions is examined in terms of effects on employment, human capital, added-value, spin-offs, R&D cooperation, R&D indicators, regional innovation, knowledge and technology transfer and soft locational factors.

ESPON Project 2.1.2: Territorial Impact of EU Research & Development Policy

The study analyses the spatial distribution of the two main instruments of EU R&D policy: the Structural Funds and the RTD Framework Programmes.

ESPON Project 1.1.2: Urban-rural relations in Europe

The study proposes and develops for the whole EU (EU 27+) typologies and indicators to characterise and operationalise the urban-rural relations in Europe, allowing in this way to identify and to quantify exchange processes, institutional links and interdependencies. Case studies complemented the quantitative analysis.

NAVIGATOR – Regional Monitoring System for improved regional labour market and sustainable economic development policies, applied in the Region of Zwickau, Saxony

The objective was to prepare a computer-based monitoring system with information about the characteristics and the specific developments in the labour market, regional economy, employment and qualifications as well as information about regional instruments for financial support. In order to meet the needs of stakeholders and practitioners, the approach not only focuses on scientific analysis but also implements procedures for quality management via the participation of local actors. The design of the system as a pilot allows the transfer to other regions in a second stage.

The tasks of this network project are to set up and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between practitioners in EU member states in the field of urban policy. TAURUS-Institute assumed the role of the Luxembourgish focal point.

This project embraced the assessment of the regional economic impacts of the military airbases of Ramstein and Spangdahlem. The focus was set on the impacts caused by the planned relocation of the Rhine-Main airbase to Ramstein and Spangdahlem.
